Clinical Services
Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine delivers world-class healthcare and clinical services across the UK and globally, combining clinical expertise and research excellence to improve health outcomes worldwide.
Our clinical work spans patient care, diagnostics and clinical trials. We bring research and practice together, so we can improve how we prevent, diagnose and treat infectious diseases.
In Liverpool, we work in partnership with the Tropical and Infectious Disease Unit at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our clinicians provide specialist inpatient and outpatient care for tropical and infectious diseases that are rarely seen elsewhere in the UK.
Globally, we deliver clinical trials across Africa, Asia and beyond. This work generates evidence that informs policy and improves care worldwide.
Human Challenge Facility
One of only a handful of such centres worldwide, our Human Challenge Facility runs controlled human infection studies. It’s a highly specialised unit that accelerates the development of new vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutics. It enables the safe study of early-stage infections under the highest ethical and biosafety standards.
